We use 100% Michigan raw materials to produce our mulch. This mulch is 100% natural and has no filler agents in it like you see if must of the mulch marketed today. We are hands-on with our mulch every step of the way we take it from most northern Michigan sawmills to our processing yard in Freeland Michigan and that’s where we make it happen. There are a lot of different stages to making the best mulch on the market.
We first bring in it and let the aging process run its course this allows the mulch to start the breakdown stage. After it has sat and started its breakdown stage we run it through the grinding machine to make the material the desired size. After we grind the material down to the desired size depending on the species of mulch we take it to the next step. If it is Hardwood species or Cedar species the process is done and these are ready to ship branded as our Premium Hardwood Mulch or our Premium
Cedar Mulch. However, if it is a softwood species these are the species we make into our colored mulches.
There are a couple more steps to this process first we need to decide what color we are making that day at this time we offer Dark Brown, Red, and Black. Once color is decided we run the mulch through our Color Mixing Machine mixing 80% water and 20% colorant onto the mulch. This colorant is an environmentally safe product safe for Pets, Plants, and Ground cover. Once the coloring process is complete we let this product sit in a pile for a day or two before we ship it because this allows for the colorant to soak into the mulch allowing for the most vibrant color on the market.
